The day started out overcast, cool and drippy so we spent the morning
inside taking it easy. By noon the
clouds had cleared, and the day was sunny and warmer. We headed out to lunch and then off to drive
the Great Ocean Drive.
Oh my, oh my, oh my!!! Gorgeous
doesn’t even begin to describe this drive.
It was white sand beach after white sand beach after white sand
beach. Eight beaches in total. And unimaginable turquoise water. This stretch of about eleven miles is probably
one of the most unending beautiful stretches of scenery we have ever
seen.
So, in order on the route:
Views from the Rotary Lookout
West Beach - this beach was really long and we stopped at many view points to take photos.
Right after taking a photo of the shark warning sign we saw a man jump in the water. No fears for him.
Salmon Beach
Fourth Beach
Twilight Beach
Views from Observatory Lookout
Observatory Beach
Nine Mile Beach
Ten Mile Lagoon
And Eleven Mile Beach
Unfortunately, the waters here run a bit cold (max of about 65°F) so we didn’t go in. But tomorrow we head out for another stretch of beaches and we intend to go prepared for at least some wading, if not swimming.

Oh, but it is beautiful here.
Wish we had much more time to sit on the beach…perhaps a couple of
weeks.
